Apartment Moving Checklist for Round Rock & North Austin

Four weeks out, give notice, book movers, and start decluttering. Two weeks out, start packing and set up utilities. One week out, reserve the elevator and parking, and confirm your move time. The day before, finish packing and clean. On move day, do a final walk-through with photos.
4 weeks before your move
- ✓Give written notice to your apartment, and check your lease for the move-out rules
- ✓Book your movers (popular weekends and month-end fill up fast)
- ✓Start decluttering: sell, donate, or junk what you don't want to move
- ✓Measure big furniture and the doorways at your new place
2 weeks before
- ✓Start packing rooms you don't use every day
- ✓Get boxes and tape (ask us, we sell supplies at budget-friendly prices, limited supply)
- ✓Schedule electricity, water, and internet at the new place
- ✓File a change of address with USPS
1 week before
- ✓Reserve the elevator or loading dock at both buildings
- ✓Ask both complexes about move-in hours and where the moving truck can park
- ✓Confirm your move time and both addresses with your movers
- ✓Pack an essentials box: chargers, meds, toiletries, sheets, and snacks
The day before
- ✓Finish packing and label every box with its room
- ✓Empty, unplug, and defrost the fridge
- ✓Take apart anything you can, or leave it for the crew
- ✓Save a parking spot close to the door if you can
Moving day
- ✓Walk the crew through what's going and what's staying
- ✓Keep valuables, documents, and your essentials box with you
- ✓Do a final walk-through and check closets, cabinets, and the balcony
- ✓Take photos of every room for your deposit records
Move-out cleaning checklist (to get your deposit back)
- ✓Wipe out the fridge, freezer, oven, and microwave
- ✓Clean counters, cabinets, sinks, tub, and toilet
- ✓Vacuum and mop floors, and wipe baseboards
- ✓Patch small nail holes if your lease allows it
- ✓Replace burned-out bulbs and turn in every key and fob
